Join us for Scenes, the season opening show at Low Road Gallery. Featured will be new videos and photography from St. Louis-based artists Dan Solberg and Gina Grafos.

This exhibition is a collection of recent works that take the concept of the landscape in two different directions that yet retain complimentary aesthetics.

The works by Dan Solberg depict scenes of cinematic realism. The images capture dramatic natural and artificial light through the literal frames of suburban facades. The ambiguity of the authenticity of suburbia is juxtaposed with optical illusion, casting doubt about the genuineness of the photographic processes behind them.

Motivated by Semiotics, Grafos' photographs and modified objects reveal the symbols and signs found in the contemporary landscape. Whether found object or documentation, the reorientation of these symbols questions the veracity of such placement and the spectator's set of codes attached.

Communist Tour of MoMA, a project by Russian-born, New York-based artist Yevgeniy Fiks premiered at Low Road Gallery last March, and has had a successful international showing since!

DePauw University adds all Fall 2010 shows to Punch Card Credit events

DePauw Students - you can now receive Punch Card Credit for attending Low Road Gallery openings. Simply find a Low Road Gallery representative after the artist talk of each opening to receive your credit. We are also listed on the University's Art Department Calendar (linked here). DePauw students - Low Road Gallery will have a table at the Greencastle Chamber of Commerce's annual welcome week event at Robe Ann park. Find us on Tuesday, August 24th from 5:30 - 7:00

Thanks to the success of last year's show, Low Road Gallery will be hosting our 2nd Annual Juried Show!

Applications are available September 1st from the website and for pick up at the gallery, and are due on October 15th. We are honored to announce that new media artist and educator Leslie Sharpe will be our juror this year.

Timeline:

September 1st: Applications available online and at the gallery

October 15th: ALL applications must be in the mailbox at the gallery. No exceptions. (111 W. Washington St, Greencastle, IN 46135).

October 29th: Accepted work announced.

November 4th and 5th: Accepted work drop-off at gallery

November 12th: 2nd Annual Juried Show Opening!

November 12th - 28th: 2nd Annual Juried Show is on exhibit at Low Road Gallery
